Why are we still accepting subpar care in endometriosis?

Lately, there has been a lot of conversation in the allied healthcare community that our tools are not adequate to help patients suffering and struggling with endometriosis. This couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Due to the lack of diagnostic tests for endometriosis in Canada, it takes years to get a diagnosis and even longer to get a treatment. Similar to many women’s health issues, like PCOS, hypothyroidism etc, dismissive care, watch and wait and suppressive therapies have become the standard practice. And this isn’t even just in the allopathic realm. I see this from NDs entering my mentorship all of the time.

We can’t blame the individual though, this message is perpetuated throughout the system. It’s leaving millions of women suffering, needlessly.

The truth is, there is a lot that can be done to support our patients with suspected or confirmed endometriosis. We need to go beyond a discussion of just pharmaceuticals and surgery or the infamous estrogen detox. Female physiology is sophisticated, and the nature of this disease is equally as intricate. This is what we will dive into in the Endometriosis Intensive.

What can you expect from the Endometriosis Intensive?

What we will cover in the Endo Intensive:
  • The basics of endometriosis, different diagnostic approaches in other countries and give away symptoms. Hint, if you treat IBS or pelvic pain then you are treating endo!
  • How endometriomas and explants establish themselves and the immunological changes that permit this.
  • The hormones and immune connection and how this shows up with clinical symptoms.
  • The influence of the microbiome, virome, angiogenesis and blood flow patterns.
  • Pain pathways and dysfunction.
  • Treatment options for the different endo types.
